Supporting and managing volunteers within the workplace is an essential part of professional practice.
Volunteers are a fantastic addition to any working environment due to their passion for their chosen voluntary cause organisation. But, the task of recruiting and retaining volunteers can be a challenge especially in the current climate. Without volunteers, a lot of Southampton groups and charities would not be operating in their communities.
Southampton Voluntary Services (SVS) can help you. We are the leading volunteer charity in the city with over 50 years of experience supporting the voluntary sector. SVS can offer support to volunteer managers and coordinators with a range of services to assist them within their role:
- Networking and Information opportunities – The Volunteer Coordinators’ Group runs quarterly and is a great way to meet other volunteer teams in the city and to discuss local volunteering programmes and opportunities. There is a monthly volunteer coordinators newsletter you can sign up too.
- Guidance and Best Practice for Volunteering – Southampton Voluntary Services is committed to maintaining the highest standards in volunteering. We offer support, advice and information on any aspect of best practice including the development of policies or procedures.
- Volunteer Recruitment Advice – The team can advise you with your volunteer recruitment queries and the best way to promote your posts. You can advertise your roles on SO:Linked where all Southampton voluntary positions are publicised.
- Training Opportunities – SVS provides training in house, externally and online. For more information, please click here to see if there are any training opportunities for you and your volunteers.
- Hampshire wide – SVS can pass on your opportunity details for promotion across the County if applicable.
- Outreach and Volunteer recruitment events – SVS can promote your opportunities at regular outreach and volunteer events that take place across the cities including at both universities, higher education colleges and community events.
