SVS and Public Health are working together to introduce the Active Outdoors Southampton Grants Programme, offering mirco-grants of up to £1,500 to local voluntary and community organisations. The deadline for application is the 28th of September.
We are passionate about getting the community active in the city’s many Green Spaces. We know there is brilliant work already going on and are keen to see that work continue to thrive.
The funding is intended to support projects that use Southampton’s green spaces to:
- Increase physical activity
-
Encourage greater use of green spaces
- Enable people who may need additional support to become or remain active
- Reach groups that are currently underrepresented in outdoor activity
-
Help children and young people develop positive early experiences of being active in nature
Projects must take place within Southampton postcodes SO14–SO19 and contribute to at least one of the following priorities:
- A Healthier Southampton
- A Safer Southampton
- A Greener Southampton
The application process is:
-
Complete the application form and submit it by email, hand or post, together with the required supporting documents explained in the guidelines.
-
Applications will be assessed by a small panel.
- Applicants will normally receive a decision within three weeks.
- Successful applicants return a signed grant agreement.
- Funding is paid and the project can begin.
-
Funded groups will do basic monitoring, complete a short final report (based on provided guidelines) and provide at least one case study demonstrating the project’s impact.
We particularly welcome collaborative applications and projects that can demonstrate how their benefits might continue beyond the grant period.
If you have an idea and are not sure the next steps to take or if you would be right for the grants programme just send us an email and we can help talk it through.
