Community Development Workers (x2)
Southampton Voluntary Services (SVS) is the local support and infrastructure organisation for the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCSE) in Southampton. We build community capacity through our focus on promoting volunteering, enabling good governance and management, forming networks for collaboration, and giving the sector a strong voice in local decisions.
Our community development activity is delivered through the SO:Linked programme and we currently have opportunities for two full-time Community Development Workers (37 hours / £28,620). Both roles will work to the attached job description, however, each role will have a separate focus area:
- Community Development Worker (Network Development) – Forming a part of our voluntary sector support team this role will also have a focus on developing SVS’ extensive networks of local organisations.
- Community Development Worker (Community Research) – Forming part of our voluntary sector support team this role will also have a focus on SVS’ work with Health Determinants Research Collaboration, Coproduction Corner, and work with Southampton’s two universities.

Community Roots Coordinator
Community Roots is an allotment-based project supporting people on a recovery journey into volunteering, managed by Southampton Voluntary Services (SVS). Our allotment is an oasis of calm near Southampton City Centre, where the supported volunteers can learn new skills, exercise, and participate in the therapeutic activities of the growing cycle.
We are recruiting a Project Coordinator for Community Roots for 15 hours a week at £28, 620 pro-rata. Full details can be seen in the attached Job Description below.
